pick systems

...i have a backlog of computer stuff to attend to.

did i mention that becoming a linux user--even with a distro as slick as ubuntu--means becoming something of a sysadmin?  an sa's skillset is somewhat different than a programmer's, as you know, and it's a job not a i'm fond of doing. otoh, i don't have to deal with printers...

i took a trip down memlane to find out what's become of pick systems--my dev world for about 12 years. when last seen, the founder, dick pick, had died [in 1994] and pick had become 'raining data' but now they've  become 'tiger logic'. but their url is the same --http://www.picksys.com/--tho they are somewhat diminished. too bad. they had an elegant db solution--don nelson was the technical guy, dick was the sales guy--way better than sql.

i looked into them when i realized my pick bgnd was running interference wifh my linux sa knowledge. hopefully that will all be straightened out in the days ahead...
