loss

while i've been gone
friends have been thru/are going thru break up, poor health, loss of home and way of life

and i have seen
people institutionalized ten, fifteen years, whole lives,
people with keen minds but bodies that fail them,
others who behave like adolescents, toddlers

it sounds tacky but it has merit--
you can't blame yourself (or anybody?) for the hand you've been dealt,
but only you can play the cards

what, then, of interdependence?
