'True Human Maturity'
'True human maturity comes when a person takes on a commitment and responsibility to others, a commitment which bonds them to others and which will shape and open their heart and spirit. Most commonly, this commitment takes the form of the bond between a man and a woman who come together to form a family. But there are also commitments to community life, or to social and humanitarian causes inspired by the love of the poor or of people in need.'

in the past, i've volunteered for things like out of the cold, out of a sense of responsibility, as jv says, but also out of compassion. i hope to develop those things in my personal relationships, too.
