david suuki turns 75, the nature of things 50

we watched the nature of things last night,a retrospective on suzuki's 75th birthday and the nature of things' 50th, which is online here. i found it more satisfing than a force of nature. it got into more of his ideas and experiences, the chief of which are the interconnectedness of all things and the haida logging protests. the show also touched on the perils of climate change, and the truths in buddhism and aboriginal lore (in peru and america) and the inadequacy of western technology, but stopped short of the current limits of science: its reductionist methodology and its a priori assumptions.
