'Denying Reality'
'I am struck by the number of people who are forced to descend into the depths of despair and loneliness before they can climb back out towards life. The only language they seem capable of listening to is a violent one of sickness or death. They refuse to listen to friendly advice. Until they have hit rock bottom, they refuse help because they reckon that they do not need it. They believe they can climb out of the abyss all by themselves. They live in a fantasy world; they deny reality. Often we go to the doctor too late. Is this not what happens with people who drink too much or take drugs? They deny the gravity of their situation.'
