i don't remember anything from this install about a su password.
you know, it's always something.
i wonder how far i can get without one, just rely on sudo.
i wonder how much farther i can get if i had it?
really? or am i just kidding myself?
how do i go about getting it?
all the usual suspects fail.

The third group (experts who know of special situations that require a root login) definitely does not need a root login tutorial. If they're really experts, they can easily figure out on their own how to enable a root login. And if they can't figure it out, perhaps they're not the experts they think they are.
-'sudo passwd root ' changed the su password. now for mysql.
