'Two Kinds of Ideals '

i love a sharp occam's razor--peter

'My experience shows me that there are two kinds of ideal: one which focuses on structures, another which is more directed towards people. The first tends to be militant, seeking to reform social structures and relying on good organization and a form of propaganda. The other stresses the importance of listening, presence and kindness, changing one heart at a time. Young people who focus their energies on people tend to live closer to human reality than those who seek change through theories, structures and a perfect way of life. The latter can quickly become ideologies which crush people instead of leading them to greater freedom, wisdom and compassion.'
