'We Live in Turmoil'

Many people are overwhelmed by images and information. Out of necessity, they are living on a superficial level. Most have neither the time nor the desire to discover a road, possibly a new road, to peace and true human fulfillment. They are completely caught up in the demands of daily living, the need to find work and to earn more money.'

is this why my expectations are too high, cuz i'm off the treadmill, not caught up in the need to find work nor money? like being a musician, a poet, a programmer, am i'm one of the lucky few who follow a different drummer, who have 'the time [and] the desire to discover a road, possibly a new road, to peace and true human fulfillment'?
