financial independence

i am learning that my short-term memory (stm) is selective, and it appears to be financial information that i sometimes fail to remember.  but sometimes i don't have the complete picture.

this issue goes deeper. am i incapable of making financial decisions reliably? is my stm improving or permanently damaged? how does this affect my attempt to live independently in the community?
